Remembering the women of Congo
Just recently, there have been reports of mass rape of women in the ongoing conflict in Eastern Congo. It is very sad and disheartening to read of such reports. In this region, women have been for decades raped and sexually violated by vicious gangs of soldiers as they razed through villages in their fight for territory and resources. The world community’s consciousness need to be raised to this serious injustice. Women and girls are being daily traumatized by the terrible acts done upon them. We cannot stand by and see this continue to happen. Everybody who can, should do something! Let us all stand up and be counted by making a difference in the lives of the Congolese women.
